Outreach Ministries of St. Mary’s or the Ways God Works Through Us

St. Mary’s Men’s Fellowship
- Our men coordinate a recycling project for newspapers and aluminum cans. A trailer located in Lawrence Park township on Water Street and East Lake Road provides a convenient drop off location for many people in Erie county. The trailer is open 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. each Wednesday and Saturday. A collection shed is also located behind the church for drop off anytime. For more information please contact Mike Gieza, 898-3686, or the Rev. Dr. Zach Irwin, 899-0102.

Episcopal Church Women (ECW) - The women of St. Mary’s meet periodically for programs and to conduct business. The women serve at services (Mondays, Wednesdays and the first Sunday of the month) at Brevillier Village, sponsor seasonal reflection evenings, the Christmas Angel tree, the Lenten Friday Stations of the Cross with programs, the Pennies for the Hungry, United Thank Offering and the Church Periodical Club Ingatherings and other events. A summer picnic, a Spring Banquet, and an Advent Dinner provide fellowship and helps foster a mindfulness of each other. For more information contact Monica Irwin, 899-0102, or Joyce Gieza, 898-3686.

The Community Meal Program - Since May 1995 we have offered hot meals and programs in conjunction with Brevillier Village once each month those in the surrounding communities who might benefit from good fellowship and food meet in St. Mary’s parish hall. Programs have included church choirs, health screenings and/or information, travelogues of far-away places, and old fashioned sing alongs. Free transportation is provided to and from the meals. If you or someone you know would be interested in attending as a guest or volunteer server, please contact Enid Bishop, 455-9601, or Monica Irwin, 899-0102.

St. Mary's Prayer Circle - While we pray together during church services, a group of church members also are active in praying for our needs and the needs of others. If you are interested in joining the prayer circle, contact Fr. Shawn. If you have a special intention or concern that you would like for us to keep in our prayers, please let us know. We believe in the power of prayer.

Opportunities for In-Reach

Altar Guild
- Members prepare the church for worship and act as caretakers of the sacred vessels and vestments of the church. All persons 16 and older are welcome. Contact Diane Boddorf, 899-8245, for more information.

Youth Group - Tweens and Teens gather each month for cool conversation and church projects. We also join up with groups from St. Mark's and St. Stephen's Episcopal Churches for fun activities and other events. For more information, contact Heather Nemenz, 898-1688.

Acolytes - Torchbearers can begin at the age of six and as they grow and mature they can serve at the altar and carry the cross. See Fr. Shawn for more information/training.

St. Mary’s Music Ministry - Talented singers and musicians are invited to share their gifts during the service on occasional Sunday's as well as to provide special music for worship on a seasonal basis (ex. Christmas, Lent, Holy Week, and Easter). If you are interested in offering your musical gifts, please contact Keven Beringer, 899-7183, or Heather Nemenz, 898-1688.

Lectors - Prepare and read the lessons during the service. If interested, please contact the vicar or Joyce Gieza, 898-3686, for more information.

Deaconal Ministry - Deacon Zach Irwin's ministry is to find needs in our community and to bring them back to the church. Those needs include those of the wider Lawrence Park/Wesleyville/Erie community and those of our own parishioners, their friends, families and neighbors. If you have or know of those who may have a special need, please don't hesitate to contact Deacon Zach at 899-0102 to see if there is something that we as a church can do to assist.
